Nicholson's Orchard Fresh

 Nicholsons

Nothing beats the taste of fresh fruit picked right from the tree. It's sweeter, crisper, more aromatic and more delicious than fruit that has been stored. Over the years, people driving over Blewett Pass (U.S. 97) have stopped by our orchard and asked if they could buy a box or two of our freshly picked fruit. These people came back year after year becoming our first regular customers.

While most of the fruit we grow is packed by Blue Bird, a grower run and owned co-operative, we decided in 1992 to open a small roadside fruit stand to sell fresh fruit to anyone who wanted to stop and visit our orchard. Since then we've grown a little each year, offering local fruits, local jams, jellies and preserves. We plan to become a reliable supplier of your locally grown fresh fruits, produce and other locally grown products.

Locally grown. We've found that most of our customers are curious and concerned about where their food comes from. Our customers have lots of questions about our agricultural practices, and we enjoy taking time to talk about their concerns. While most of our fruit is grown to I.P.M. (Integrated Pesticide Management) standards, some of our fruit is grown to Washington State Certified Organic Standards.

Visiting our orchard should be an enjoyable experience for the whole family. We always have Free Samples of our fresh tree ripe fruit available. We have an exhibit of farm animals, with baby chickens, rabbits, a miniature donkey and horse, pygmy goats and other lovable characters. Farm tours will be available on weekends by appointment. These tours give our guests the opportunity to view our fruit ladened trees, ask questions and hear about the different varieties of fruit we grow in Washington State. Be sure to call ahead 509-548-9152 to schedule a tour.

If you are unable to take one of our tours there are still plenty of interesting things to see and do when you visit our orchard. Some of our guests, enjoy standing by a fifty year old apple or pear tree covered with growing fruit and have their picture taken. Others take a travel break and enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of a fifty year old golden delicious tree. The more adventurous visitors enjoy walking down a row or two of fruit trees, enjoy the smells of ripening fruit, and try to identify their favorite variety. We hope you'll stop by and look at our orchard too.
